national day for truth and reconciliation

September 30th, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange shirt, has been declared a federal statutory holiday. On this day we honour the children who survived the residential schools and those who did not. Orange is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom, and self-esteem experienced by indigenous children over generations. On this day, we wear orange to raise awareness of this big tragedy and show our respect to families and communities who have suffered.
